Welcome, and congratulations on your first piercing At Luna! We are an inclusive piercing studio in Vernon Rockville, Connecticut. Whether you're here for a nostril, nipple or even your first set of earlobe piercings, a visit to us starts the same. Here's what you can expect from a visit with us.

When you arrive you will likely be greeted by Sam, who you may have already talked to to set your appointment. She will take your ID for the back of your paperwork, and guide you on how to fill everything out. Feel free to have a seat and take your time reading everything!

After paperwork comes jewelry selection, which typically happens with one of our APP member piercers. We will help you find the perfect piece of body jewelry for you - don't be afraid to get particular about what you like or ask questions! Searching through the cases can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you're here for your first piercing. A few ideas of your personal style can absolutely help us find you the perfect piece quickly, but don't be worried if you also want to take the time to look through things! Whoever is helping you will make sure what you've picked will sit nicely with your anatomy.

Once they have, all the tools needed will go into a Statim autoclave to sterilize everything alongside your jewelry. In the meantime, check out one of our look books, and let us know if you need water or a snack! After your setup has gone through the sterilization process your piercer will invite you (and your guests, if you brought any) back to one of our rooms. Everything you need is in there, no matter the situation.

Our piercing rooms are equipped with doctors tables, wipeable surfaces, HEPA air filters, mirrors and of course, autoclaves prepped with your jewelry!

Your guests will be directed to the best areas to hang out. Your skin will be prepped while you and your piercer talk about placement. They will put on sterile gloves and use a sterile single use marker. This is the time to be picky! Your piercer will let you know where will and won't work based on anatomy, safety, aesthetic goals, and long term jewelry goals - a stud may look great in some places that a ring won't fit well and vice versa. We will also take into account how jewelry moves in the placement you choose and let you know if anything may or may not work better. Feel free to check in with your guests for input! Depending on what you're having done, your piercer may even pull in an additional professional to double check placement (this happens a lot with paired facial piercings). The more eyes the better!

Most piercings are done lying down for the ease of your piercer, but if you have any needed accommodations, please let us know! Most piercing tables come with a provided step stool and the angle of the back can be adjusted. We have helped many clients with mobility aids and restrictions and are always happy to work with you.

Once you are well positioned and as comfortable as possible, your piercer will double check placement, jewelry sizes and may do some feeling around with the back of their needle or additional tools. They will make sure you're ready, tell you to take a deep breath in and let it out. You did it! The entire lead up is finished in a short moment. Jewelry is inserted and leftover marks or skin prep will be cleaned off with a sterile saline wipe. Bleeding can happen any time the skin is opened, but it's minimal at best. Your piercer may have you continue to lay down for a few minutes while they apply firm but comfortable pressure to your new piercing.

Afterwards you'll be instructed to sit up slowly. As long as you feeling good, it's time to check it out! Take all the time you need though, and let us know if you need anything. As we said, our piercing rooms are fully equipped with anything you might need - glucose tablets, water, sick bags, cold cloths and lollipops are easily accessible, and at no point will your piercer have issue getting any of these things for you. Most of the time we know you need them before you do!

When it's time we head back up front, square away payment and go over aftercare instructions for your new piercing and potential downsize time frames. You'll have the option to book a follow-up and ask any questions you may have. Remember that you can contact us any time with questions, and that aftercare instructions are also listed on our website if you lose your paper copy. You've done it!

Congratulations again. Everyone's first piercing experience should be special, and we hope the expectations for your first piercing have been exceeded! We promise to be there for you for the entire lifetime of your piercing, so let us know if there is anything you need!
